On a hilariously chaotic, Strenuous Saturday to inventory and pack hiking gear, chaos reigned supreme as the North Texas Wranglers attempted to corral our wilderness essentials. Amidst the confusion of mismatched socks and tangled tent poles, we discovered forgotten treasures like a half-eaten granola bar from last year’s expeditions.
The subregion prepared for the simplicity of a short morning hike, backpacking over a weekend, and extended camping trips. Backpacks, duffle bags, and trunks were cleaned out, gear accounted for, and items repacked for their designed purposes.
Laughter echoed as we debated the necessity of bringing a portable espresso machine versus lightweight dehydrated coffee. Despite the occasional debate over the merits of a luxury item versus its weight penalty, we managed to sort through the madness and emerge with packed bags and spirits high.
Ultimately, we realized that a good sense of humor might be our most essential gear in the unpredictable adventures and upcoming StrenFests.- North Texas Wranglers subregion
