The North Texas Wranglers rode into the new year with their first meeting of 2025, fittingly held on Texas Independence Day. There are few better ways to honor the indomitable spirit of Texas than gathering with good members, enjoying good food, and engaging in conversation—and so it was at The Original Roy Hutchins in Trophy Club, TX.
@johnrobinson, @ghmartin, @jkwhitley, and @veterandaddfw were in attendance. The meeting started with personal updates, with each member sharing insights into their challenges and triumphs. There were stories of resilience, minor frustrations with the modern world, and the ever-present balancing act of work, family, and self-improvement.

With plates full of brisket and ribs, the conversation turned to weightier matters—namely, the challenges facing North Texas, the Lone Star State, and the broader world. The group examined the ongoing struggles with engagement issues and, more philosophically, the alarming commitment crisis among men worldwide. What does committing to something in an age of endless distractions and shallow obligations mean? How do we foster stronger bonds and deeper responsibilities? Questions were raised, perspectives shared, and, in true Texan fashion, no problem was seen as insurmountable.
A meeting without action is just idle talk, and the Wranglers are committed to not being idle. To keep the momentum strong, the group agreed to schedule activities such as brainstorming events, workshops, and gatherings for the remainder of the year. There was a mutual understanding that leadership and camaraderie require words and action, and the planning phase is underway.
As the evening wound down, the discussion veered toward history, literature, and the larger currents of human thought. It seems no meeting is complete without a few well-placed references to the wisdom of the ages—the new insights of history, the lessons of classic literature, or the ever-relevant musings of the Stoics.
The North Texas Wranglers left the evening with full stomachs, fuller minds, and a renewed sense of purpose. Until next time, gentlemen—keep riding tall, and Remember the Alamo!
